Bones walked along a worn path in the field; it had footprints of just about every animal in the area. He loved to walk along this old path. All of the prints were old, none of them recent, which was nice, because that meant that it was very unlikely he would run into anyone. As he reached the top of a hill, he felt the wind blow through his mane. He stuck his head in the air and let the wind wrap itself around him. He let his eyes close slowly. "So peaceful." He whispered.
The large field was silent, only the sound of the howling wind echoed over the field. A sparrow flew by his head and he opened his eyes as it danced around his head. "Aren't you cute." he said as it landed on his nose. It quickly took off and danced around his head again. He started to prance around and the bird followed him as he ran down and around the hill in a playfully manner. He lifted his hooves up high in a sort of proud trot. He stopped short when he heard laughter. His ears twitched in the direction of the sound. He snorted irritably and stomped his foot on the ground. "Who's laughing at me!?" He yelled angrily. "How dare you laugh at me!" He stomped his foot loudly again. His ears were laid back as the little bird landed on his back. He paid no attention to it. He was to busy being mad at the unknown stranger.

Shasta entered the area with her bay coat gleaming as the stallion was playing with a sparrow. She let a slight giggle out. He seemed to be offended by her laughter. "I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry I just though it was funny you playing with the bird. by the way, I'm Shasta. I honestly Didn't want to offend you." She lowered her head hoping for him to forgive her. She though she laughed quietly but not quiet enough. Her green eyes looked at him hoping he wouldn't be that mad. She peered around at the surrounding landscape. She wondered if she should leave, but she stayed hoping he wouldn't get too mad not to talk to her. Her green eyes then looked at his ears being pinned. It seems she always gets herself in these kind of messes. These messes were nearly always caused by her curiosity of new horses. All she wanted to do was meet him and make conversation but now it seems she will be driven off.

He glared at her for a moment longer. Then smiled and put his ears up. "I'm Bones." He said with a smile, "nice to meet you." She seemed like a nice horse, and a very pretty horse. The sparrow let out a little chirp. It took Bones by surprise and looked back quickly. The bird chirped again, then flew off away from the two horses. His head flew around back to the lovely bay mare. "Whats a lone mare like you doing wondering around here?" He said.
He loved to flirt, and did it a little too much. It was one of his only flaws. He held his head up high to make himself look bigger then he really was. "Why don't we travel together, Shasta?" He said, blinking his eyes. What a beautiful mare. He thought to himself. I'm surprised she's not claimed by another stallion. He shifted his weight to his left side, leaning closer to her. "Your very Beautiful." He said arching his neck like the royals did. He was no Royal, not even remotely close to a royal. He was much too... free willed. He smiled at her again. He fiddled nervously with his hooves, waiting anxiously for her answer.

Shasta was surprised by his response. Usually other stallions would have chased her off by now. "I'm wandering, what else would I be doing?" Shasta said sarcastically. Then she remembered his second question "What do you mean by traveling together?' She decided to let her sarcasm get the best of her as she well knew the answer. She kind of smiled and looked at Bones and his arched neck. She then decided to raise her head to a little taller than level. "Beautiful, hardly." She never considered herself beautiful, nor did any other stallion she knew. They just considered her an ordinary bay, the only thing they thought was unique was her green eyes. She looked at Bones with her head tilted slightly. He was more handsome than his name gave him credit for. She took a few steps back to get a better look wondering, he seemed nice but his attitude changes caught her off guard.
She figured that he was defensive of horse seeing his week points, but was friendly in the end. Her ears were wandering listening to all sorts of sounds like birds chirping. But they soon returned to there perch of listening if Bones would reply. She untitled her head when she was done looking at him but kept her eyes on his.

Bones' ears flattened and unflatened nervously. "Well, I think your beautiful." He said, still smiling, "I think you know exactly what I mean. Come on, what could it hurt, beside it doesn't look like you have a stallion to at least protect you. Besides there are a lot of dangers, wolves and big cats. You never know when one can attack." He shook his head as if to whip away a bad memory. "I know a great place to graze." He said tilting his head in the direction of the patch of grass he was headed toward.
She made him feel nervous. Maybe she will stay with me and not disappear like the others. His dark past seemed to frighten off every other mare, weather he told them or they found out, it didn't mater. They all ran away from. He had changed the year he had spent wondering, he wasn't the horse he had been a year ago. He shivered at the thought. No mater how hard he tried to burn his past, it alway had a way of coming back to haunt him.

She looked at him wonderingly as he pinned his ears and unpinned them. She wondered if he would be mean once they arrived at his lands. Or if he even had land of his own. either way she felt as if she could trust him. "I'll go. and thanks. No stallion I have ever known ever thought I was beautiful."She walked up to him and looked at him. she knew she could protect herself against wolfs and big cats but she knew she couldn't be alone forever. Wondering where Bones may take her was the least of her worries. she felt she could trust him. But then again could she? He could just be saying this to get me to think i could trust him. Either way she was going somewhere. Better with him than by her lonesome. Maybe he was right.
She stood next to him trying to see eye to eye but she knew that he was a hand taller than her 15 hand tall body. She looked at him with her green eyes as she flicker her black forelock to one side. "So, where are we going Bones?'She said with a slight smile looking at him to lead her.
Questions rolled in her mind like tumbling snowballs. Could she trust this strange stallion? Will he end up being like the stallions of my past? Or will her be different? If he is different how different? She couldn't seem to these thoughts out of her head. She shook her heed for she was being pestered of thought and questions from the past. The only thing she knew for sure right now is that she agreed to go with him. And she sticks to her word. She knew she could trust that convincing smile on Bones face.
