Thousands of years ago, following the motion of the planets and stars, several ancient civilizations pinpointed the end of the world to a single date: the year 2012.
It's the year 2012 now, and, despite the fact that the sun has not exploded, and the earth has not been destroyed in fire and water, there's no question about it: Something great is happening in the world, though on such a scale it is hard to measure. Now is the calm before the storm. It's quite certain that something is about to happen, but just what it is that is happening is difficult to explain.

Random murders are on the rise, and the kills seemed to be linked. Everywhere throughout Washington, bloodless bodies have been found from even the quietest towns to the roaring city of Seattle. This plague has spread even to Europe, where silent killers have been boldly snatching people in the dead of night, even in the busiest of places. Nowhere is safe. There is no pattern. Senseless, mindless killing that no one can explain.

Unless, of course, you happen to be of the supernatural.

The number of vampires is on a rise, and at such an extreme speed that not even their nemesis, the werewolf, cannot multiply quickly enough to thin their numbers. Such is the extent of this spread that not even the Volturi, the lords of all vampires, seem to be able to control the situation. With the human population in mass hysteria, and wild speculations about these strange deaths drawing closer and closer to the truth of the problem, these peace keepers among vampires have been striking here and there, desperate to put an end to the mass outbreak of their kind.

Not even vampires, it seems, are safe from their own kind.
